Enzyme Nutrition

        Dr. Edward Howell

A number of people who have turned their health around with raw foods. Very difficult for the average person to go completely raw. Vitamins and minerals can stand the heat of cooking, but it's the digestive enzymes found in all raw foods that are killed at any temperature above 118 degrees. Most people don't know how critical these enzymes are to us. Our body does make some but they are meant to be used by the body to support the immune system. They get borrowed to aid in digesting cooked or processed food. This can compromise the immune system. Over time it takes a toll on health.

I would recommend a great book on this -- Enzyme Nutrition by Dr. Edward Howell. He was the pioneer, studying enzymes for 50 yrs. Unfortunately he died in the late 80s.

I would suggest you look at replenishing your enzymes with each cooked meal. I could suggest one that has a good delivery system, but won't do it here. Too bad the old high school cheer wasn't "Raw! Raw! Raw!

P.S. - about the burgers, have you seen the stuff from a company called Yves? I think it's Canadian, but they have great natural garden burgers, hot dogs, even salami -- tastes real good and very natural ingredients. Have found it even in the big grocery stores here in San Diego.

Here's a website on raw foods. (I have no financial stake in this company)
