I’m reading a very interesting book called
"The Downhill Syndrome" by Dr. Pavel Yutsis and
Dr. Morton Walker.
This book shows how so much of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the Epstein Barr Syndrome and other mysterious illnesses, seem to be a combination of several viruses. The viruses that seem most implicated in Epstein Barr are a combination of the Herpes group of viruses, which include Herpes Simplex types I and II, Varicella Zoster virus, Cytomegalovirus, and Pseudorabies virus. They say in the book, that a common theme of these viruses is their ability to establish a lifelong latent infection in the human host after the initial infection. This latent infection is usually kept in check by the body’s immune system. When the immune system is compromised, however, the infection can become reactivated.

- “These viruses are implicated in a array of disorders, both benign and malignant. Cellular or molecular “snapshots” have allowed scientists to see that the diseases such as hairy leukoplakia, mononucleosis, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, Hodgkins’ disease, T-cell lymphoma, parotid carcinoma, and all of the different Herpes infections, and post-transplantion have much in common. The EBV has been found in most patients with these conditions, with chronic fatigue being it’s most common symptom.end quoteEBV also establishes a lifelong latent infection of a small fraction of B-Lymphocytes.
In the early stage of CEBV, antibodies of both the immunogloblin M (IgM) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) classes appear in the patient’s blood and peak in three to six days after the onset of infection. These antibodies gradually regress to undetectable levels a few months after symptoms appear, replaced by the anti-nuclear antigen antibodies (anti-EBNAs). After peaking, both the IgG of a different antigen (anti-viral capsid antigen or VCA) and the anti-EBNA generally remain detectable at a low level, and are excellent markers to detect a past EBV infection. When anti-VCAs are above the normal range, it is suggestive of a recurrent or reactivated EBV infection, especially when anti-EBNA antibodies are present. In some patients, however, there have been no detectable anti-EBNAs during a suspected reactivation of the infection, making detection even more difficult.”
This book gives a lot of different tests that can be given to make detection of this more accurate. It also gives wholistic treatment suggestions of herbs, and mineral supplements that may help, as well as different viral drugs that help with these viruses. One drug, Ampligen, an experimental antivirus drug, was given to a group in contrast to a control group. In 6 months, those taking the Ampligen recovered almost fully; while those on the placebo did not improve at all.
They go on to talk about the Cytomegalovirus,
and it’s problems in the immune system.
They discuss quite a bit about the Human Herpesvirus-6 (HHV6) which is implicated as a contributor to the “Downhill Syndrome”.
This book discusses the differences between viruses and retroviruses. The family of retroviruses are grouped in three subfamilies: Oncovirinae (the RNA tumor viruses), Spumavirinae (the foamy viruses), and Lentivirinae ( the “slow” viruses of sheep and human T-cell lymphotropic viruses or HTLV). Scientists studying the connection between retroviruses and CFIDS have mostly concentrated on the foamy viruses and HTLV.
Detoxification of Chemicals and Heavy Metals are discussed in this book, and the use of Niacin and the sauna is suggested as well as Chelation-EDTA.
I really was impressed with the depth of the research in this book, as well as the fact that these two MD’s actually suggested many natural supplements rather than only drugs. They mentioned a natural plant extract, called ABAVCA, which improves the ratio between the CD4 helper cell and the CD8 suppressor cell lymphocyte. This balance, in turn, helps to correct anemia, improve appetite, and reverse swollen glands in patients with viral diseases. They recommend Carnivora (venus fly trap), and Monolaurin, a fatty acid to help with antifungal and antiviral activity.
The ISBN number is 0-89529-758-2, and it’s publisher
is the Avery Publishing Group. This book is really well worth the modest
price. It has a price tag of $12.95 written on the paperback book.
Hope this is helpful.
Updates on my own implementation of what I learned:
I just wanted to give some feedback on the previous “Downhill Syndrome” book and the test vials that I ordered from the viruses listed in the book. I ordered a lot of test vials and tested to need two of them in 50M strength. I tested to need 4 different layers of remedies. I made the first one’s up, muscle tested which ones I needed…and took them. I started experiencing major detox symptoms, kidney tightness and pain, which the Chinese Kidney supplement took care of, and liver congestion leading to "Yet More" insomnia, which I can tell you I don’t need more problems with. This was solved with a liver supplement. After several days of these problems, and having some added rest during the day for a few days, I am starting to feel a lot more energy. This is a good thing! I am feeling hopeful that I might start feeling much better. I love progress like this.
A couple weeks later:
Recently, I’ve experienced a LOT of muscle pain for a couple of days. Mostly in my arms and thighs. I’ve had to take several baths with Bentonite Clay to detox with, and taken Charcoal capsules also. This has helped. I’ve also had some liver pain under my right ribs. I took a Agarius mushroom remedy which took care of that. I feel I’m getting much stronger and have more energy.
